        "content": "<p>Study on trans-Asia railway almost ready<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters): A study on building a Trans-Asia<br>\nrailway line from Singapore to Kunming in China will be ready by<br>\nJune, Malaysia's national Bernama news agency reported yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The cost of the study, some five million ringgit (US$1.3<br>\nmillion), was borne by Malaysia after the project was approved by<br>\nthe Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 1995, the<br>\nnews agency quoted Malaysian Transport Minister Ling Liong Sik as<br>\nsaying.<\/p>\n<p>The study would be the basis for implementing the project,<br>\nLing told Malaysia's parliament after an opposition legislator<br>\nraised questions.<\/p>\n<p>He said the study covered topography, detailed engineering<br>\ndesigns, estimated cost of tracks and choice of routes.<\/p>\n<p>Four routes were being considered, all beginning in Singapore<br>\nand passing through Malaysia, Ling said.<\/p>",
