Jerusalem (ANTARA) - A study from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem,\non Tuesday (14\/4), found that modern artificial intelligence (AI)\nsystems can judge people and form a kind of \u201ctrust\u201d, albeit in a way\ndifferent from humans.<\/p>\n
In a new study published in Proceedings of the Royal Society A, the\nteam investigated how AI evaluates individuals in contexts such as\nlending, recruitment, and providing recommendations.<\/p>\n
The researchers analysed more than 43,000 simulated decisions and\ncompared them with responses from around 1,000 human participants.<\/p>\n
They found that both humans and AI tend to prefer people who appear\ncompetent, honest, and well-intentioned, indicating that AI captures\nsome basic elements of \u201chuman trust\u201d.<\/p>\n
However, a number of important differences were identified. Humans\ntypically form overall impressions based on a combination of various\ntraits, while AI systems break down judgements into separate factors,\nsuch as competence or integrity, and score them more rigidly, the\nresearchers said.<\/p>\n
The study also found that AI can exhibit consistent biases, sometimes\nstronger than human biases, based on factors such as age, gender, or\nreligion, even when all other details are the same.<\/p>\n
