Students urge Ramadhan purge<\/p>\n
BOGOR (JP): At least 30 students from different universities
\nhere went to the Bogor Regency Office compound in Cibinong
\nyesterday, demanding the local administration takes stern action
\nagainst owners of restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues
\nduring the Ramadhan fasting month.<\/p>\n
The students, calling themselves the Students who Love
\nRamadhan Forum, appealed to the administration to start limiting
\nthe operations of daytime restaurants, discotheques, pubs,
\nnightclubs and red-light areas during the Moslem holy month.<\/p>\n
\"If the municipality doesn't respond, we'll take action in our
\nown way,\" said one of the protesters, without indicating what
\nkind of action that might be.<\/p>\n
Some of the posters carried by the students read: The holy
\nmonth is coming, curb all immorality; We need the regent to stop
\nimmorality during Ramadhan; There is no place for those who want
\nto sully the holy Ramadhan with immorality.<\/p>\n
None of the administration officials came out to meet the
\nstudents.<\/p>\n
A source said that Bogor Regent Eddie Yoso Martadipura and
\nsome of his staff were attending the inauguration of a school for
\ndisabled children by Vice President Try Sutrisno in Keradenan
\nvillage.<\/p>\n
Under the watchful eyes of police, the students then walked to
\nthe nearby council building.<\/p>\n
Some of the councilors welcomed the students and invited four
