        "content": "<p>Students to enjoy e-learning<\/p>\n<p>Dyah Apsari, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>Living in Jakarta amid tight competition has created a need for<br>\nuniversity students to do a lot more than just attend classes.<\/p>\n<p>Some students may increase their skills by taking informal<br>\ncourses while others may seek out part-time work experience.<\/p>\n<p>Recognizing the ever-changing lifestyle of students, Bina<br>\nNusantara University is allowing students to adjust their class<br>\nschedules with other activities.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the university launched a new learning management<br>\nsystem called Bee Lifestyle, which allows for the involvement of<br>\nboth students and parents in its new e-learning system.<\/p>\n<p>The system gives students access to class materials, exam<br>\nresults and administration announcements as well as campus<br>\ncalendar events with just a click on its official website.<\/p>\n<p>Through the website, students can discuss class materials with<br>\nlecturers or simply chat with classmates.<\/p>\n<p>They are not required to always attend classes, since they can<br>\naccess materials and ask their instructors or classmates<br>\nquestions via the system.<\/p>\n<p>Distance learning has been available since 2003 through the<br>\nuniversity's three Jakarta campuses, but it was only recent that<br>\nthe university developed its own software that enables students<br>\nto use free, wireless Internet connections on campus and within a<br>\none kilometer radius from the campus.<\/p>\n<p>\"Many of our students live in boardinghouses around the<br>\ncampuses ... We surveyed 100 boardinghouses with the idea of<br>\ngiving free access to our website this year,\" said the<br>\nuniversity's manager of Information Technology Development, Eddy<br>\nSantosa.<\/p>",
