        "content": "<p>Students protest rampant gambling<\/p>\n<p>SEMARANG, Central Java: Some 100 students of the Indonesian<br>\nMuslim Students Action Group (KAMMI) rallied in front of the<br>\nProvincial Legislative Council compound on Monday, demanding the<br>\nlocal administration and police eradicate rampant gambling<br>\npractices.<\/p>\n<p>KAMMI coordinator Imam Marjuki said gambling activities have<br>\nbeen held in public places, while the police had failed to take<br>\nstern action against them.<\/p>\n<p>\"The police probably allow the activities to continue, while<br>\nthe gambling eradication team, set up by local legislative<br>\ncouncil, have failed to put an end to such practices even now<br>\nduring the holy month of Ramadhan,\" Imam said.<\/p>\n<p>He said people used all kinds of activities, such as a card<br>\ngame togel, billiards and even water currents for gambling.<\/p>\n<p>\"They gamble in public areas, such as market places, bus<br>\nterminals, mosques and churches.<\/p>\n<p>\"What is worse is that there are some government officials,<br>\nmilitary and police officers who back the gambling practices,\"<br>\nImam said.
