Students lose school buildings<\/p>\n
BOGOR: Hundreds of students of two state elementary schools in
\nHambalang village, Bogor regency, have to attend classes at
\nanother school because their school buildings had been destroyed
\nunder building swap agreements, while the new buildings have not
\nbeen constructed.<\/p>\n
The first agreement is between SDN Hambalang I elementary
\nschool and State Rubber Plantation Estate, while the second is
\nbetween SDN 5 elementary school and Permata Sentul housing
\ndeveloper.<\/p>\n
Head of the local education and teaching office Barkeh Dimyati
\ntold Antara on Tuesday that the agreements were made in 1980. The
\nplantation estate and the developer promised to build new
\nbuildings for the two schools.<\/p>\n
But the plantation estate later made an agreement with PT
\nIndocement, which then took over all of its assets, including the
\nSDN Hambalang I building. PT Indocement claimed it knew nothing
\nabout the building swap agreement between the school and the
\nrubber plantation estate.<\/p>\n
Permata Sentul has not kept to its promise to build a new
\nschool building for SDN 5 for as long as its whereabouts are not
\nclear, Dimyati said.<\/p>\n
\"To whom should we complain? The local administration has not
\nbeen able to do anything to help the students,\" he said. --JP<\/p>",
