Students injure two at RSCM<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Two staff members at state-owned Cipto
\nMangunkusumo General Hospital (RSCM) suffered light wounds and a
\nnumber of doors and windows in the hospital were broken by a
\ngroup of some 30 students on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
According to the two victims, the students became upset after
\nthey were told not to collect money from motorists parking their
\nvehicles along Jl. Diponegoro, which is located in front of the
\nhospital.<\/p>\n
The victims were identified as Muchtar, a security guard at
\nthe hospital, and Udin, a parking attendant at the hospital. The
\nvictims suffered light wounds to their heads and faces.<\/p>\n
After attacking the two staff members and breaking windows and
\ndoors at the hospital, the students reportedly ran to the campus
\nof nearby Indonesian Christian University (UKI).<\/p>\n
Police have not identified the suspects, but Muchtar said that
\nthey were students from UKI.<\/p>\n
\"One of them showed me his identity card when the dispute
\nstarted, saying that we are all together, looking for money and
\ntrying to make a living,\" he said while reporting the case at the
\nSenen police station.<\/p>\n
However, Muchtar said he did not know the student's name.<\/p>\n
None of the authorities at the university could be reached for
\ncomment.<\/p>\n
According to Muchtar, the midday dispute began when he asked
\ntwo of the students to stop asking motorists for money.<\/p>\n
\"They might think that the area is under their authority.\"<\/p>\n
\"I was afraid that the image of parking attendants at the
\nhospital would be tarnished by their actions,\" Muchtar said.<\/p>\n
In response, the two students attacked Muchtar, who fought
\nback, hitting one of the students.<\/p>\n
Udin came to the assistance of Muchtar, forcing the students
\nto flee to the UKI campus.<\/p>\n
Half an hour later, a group of 30 students returned to the
\nhospital and attacked Muchtar and Udin.<\/p>\n
The attack and the noise of windows being smashed by the
\nstudents disturbed the hospital's activities.<\/p>\n
A number of hospital staff rushed to help their colleagues,
\ndispersing the students.<\/p>\n
