        "content": "<p>Students of the Faculty of Law at Bung Karno University (UBK) are\ndemanding strict sanctions against several members of the student\nexecutive board (BEM) who allegedly received money from Vice President\nGibran Rakabuming Raka during a wave of demonstrations.<\/p>\n<p>The statement of demands was posted on the BEM FH UBK Instagram\naccount on Tuesday (23\/6), titled \u2018Points of Demands from UBK Students\u2019.\nThey are urging the named individuals to issue a video apology and\naccept both academic and social consequences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMake a statement in video form that the parties involved are ready\nto be held accountable for the academic and social consequences set by\nUBK and UBK students,\u201d the post stated.<\/p>\n<p>The students named five individuals suspected of involvement and\nreceiving the money: Muhammad Abdimaludin, Chair of BEM FH; Rafly\nMaulana Akbar, Vice Chair; Mubarak Tuasamu, a BEM FH officer; Pujiono,\nChair of BEM FEB; and Muhammad Rafli Bastian, Vice Chair of BEM FEB.<\/p>\n<p>They are demanding that the named individuals resign from all\ninternal campus positions, including BEM leadership, and make a video\nconfession admitting they received money from the Vice President after a\nmeeting on 15 June. The students also demand that those involved receive\nan E grade for the Bung Karno Teachings 1-4 course, and that any\nrecipients of the KIP Kuliah scholarship return the funds they have\nreceived. A deadline of 10 working days, from Monday 22 June to 6 July,\nhas been set for all parties to comply with the demands.<\/p>\n<p>As of the writing of this report, there has been no official\nstatement from Gibran or the Vice Presidential Palace regarding the\nalleged payments.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the UBK Rectorate has announced the suspension of Muhammad\nAbdi Maludin, Chair of the Faculty of Law BEM, following his admission\nof meeting with Gibran during the protest activities. \u201cToday, in\naccordance with the Rector\u2019s statement, we have suspended the individual\nconcerned,\u201d said UBK Vice Rector III Daniel Panda during a press\nconference on campus in Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The suspension is part of an ongoing investigation within the\nuniversity\u2019s code of ethics framework. \u201cThus, the individual can no\nlonger represent himself as BEM Chair until the investigation process is\ncomplete,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Panda explained that Abdi had formally admitted to receiving Rp20\nmillion through a senior alumnus of the Faculty of Law, with the money\noriginating from a police officer. \u201cIn this case, we have summoned the\nChair of the Faculty of Law BEM, Abdi. He has made an official admission\nto the university that he received Rp20 million through an individual, a\nsenior alumnus of the UBK Faculty of Law, handed over by a police\nofficer,\u201d Panda stated.<\/p>\n<p>He continued that the university has formed an investigation team,\nwith the Ethics Commission chaired by Mas Eko. Despite information\nalready circulating on social media, the campus will continue to\ninvestigate and take statements from other students involved. \u201cAfter\nthat, we will impose sanctions.
