        "content": "<p>Student questioned over treason<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): National Police summoned a student activist on<br>\nMonday as a witness in the case of three opposition figures<br>\ncharged with trying to topple President B.J. Habibie's<br>\ngovernment.<\/p>\n<p>Sarbini an activist of Jakarta Student Senate Forum (FKSMJ)<br>\narrived at the headquarters at around 1 p.m., accompanied by<br>\nlawyers Ori Rachman and Tubagus Haryo from the Indonesian Legal<br>\nAid Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>But Sarbini strongly believed that he would give no help to<br>\nthe police as he had no idea about his status in the case.<\/p>\n<p>\"I don't know anything about it and I don't even know any of<br>\nthe suspects mentioned in the summons,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Sarbini was said to be a witness for politician Johny M.<br>\nHidayat, noted economist Sri Edi Swasono and chairman of the<br>\nIndonesian University Alumnae (Iluni) Hariadi Dharmawan.<\/p>\n<p>Police sources said they were preparing dossiers for the three<br>\nto be submitted to the prosecutor's office as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in mid-November, the national police abruptly started<br>\nto summons opposition figures for allegedly signing a strong<br>\nanti-government declaration which was related to the mounting<br>\nstudent protests.<\/p>\n<p>At least 20 opposition figures -- all of them named as<br>\nsuspects -- face similar charges of allegedly violating  Articles<br>\n107 and 110 on treason which carry maximum penalties of life<br>\nimprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects were picked up by police at different places and<br>\ntimes beginning early Saturday evening, hours after the bloody<br>\n\"Black Friday\" incident at Semanggi.
