Student killed in attack<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): An 18-year-old STM student was fatally stabbed
\nin the ribs by a group of 10 students from a rival school in a
\nstreet brawl on Jl. Soegiono, East Jakarta, on Saturday.<\/p>\n
With tears in his eyes, Toni, the brother-in-law of the
\nvictim, said that Ahmad Yanwar, a student of STM technical senior
\nhigh school in Tubun, could have been saved if local residents
\nhad been willing to do something to help the dying youth.<\/p>\n
"It's so sad to learn that local residents, who witnessed the
\nincident, did not immediately call the police or ambulance for
\nhelp," he said.<\/p>\n
Toni quoted witnesses as saying that Yanwar was waiting for a
\nbus when the students from the Budi Murni high school surrounded
\nand suddenly attacked the lone boy.<\/p>\n
"Some of them even carried sharp weapons," he said.<\/p>\n
Toni insisted that Yanwar was a nice boy and never became
\ninvolved in student brawls.<\/p>\n
"According to local residents, there was a dispute between
\nresidents living in the area with those same students a few days
\nago. But I had no idea about the motives of the students to
\nattack Yanwar instead," he said.<\/p>\n
Toni added that Duren Sawit police subprecinct had managed to
\narrest some of the students at the scene. (06)<\/p>",
