        "content": "<p>A ninth-grade student at SMP Negeri 6 Pekalongan, Central Java,\nidentified by the initial F, is still receiving treatment at RSUD Bendan\nKota Pekalongan after being assaulted by several schoolmates. The\nincident occurred during a school break in a toilet area at the back of\nthe school on Thursday (13\/8).<\/p>\n<p>According to the school, the incident began with social issues and\ncommunication between students on social media. F was said to have a\nclose friend of the opposite sex. The friendship issue then developed\ninto tension after communications emerged via WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p>Former headmistress Qurratiani (Anik), who acted as spokesperson\nalongside the newly installed head of SMP 6 Pekalongan, confirmed the\nincident and said it was being handled by both the school and the\npolice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause there was physical contact that ultimately may have led to\nmutual resentment, physical contact occurred and ended with the victim\nbeing referred to hospital,\u201d Anik said in an official statement quoted\non Saturday (15\/8).<\/p>\n<p>Anik said three students were present at the meeting. However, based\non initial accounts, two students made physical contact with F.<\/p>\n<p>Neurosurgeon at RSUD Bendan, Bair Ginting, said that when F first\narrived at the hospital, he was reported to be in a coma. However, after\nreceiving medical treatment, F\u2019s consciousness gradually improved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn admission, he was reported to be in a coma. Then, over time,\nafter being given medication and oxygen, his condition slowly improved,\nand the latest report stated that he had begun to regain consciousness,\u201d\nBair Ginting explained.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bair Ginting, a CT scan of the head also showed a\nrelatively good condition. Doctors found no bleeding or bruising on the\nvictim\u2019s brain. \u201cAlthough there is information about a possible skull\nfracture due to impact, this condition is not the main factor\nthreatening the victim\u2019s safety,\u201d Ginting explained.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, police visited SMP Negeri 6 Pekalongan to provide guidance\nto students. Pekalongan Timur Police Chief Kompol Tri Handayani asked\nstudents to stop all forms of bullying and not to carry out retaliatory\nactions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have also visited the hospital to monitor the victim\u2019s condition\nand communicate with the family,\u201d said Tri Handayani.<\/p>\n<p>Tri Handayani said the school had summoned the students involved\nalong with their respective parents.<\/p>\n<p>The school said the parents of the students involved in the physical\ncontact had expressed regret and stated they were ready to meet F\u2019s\nfamily.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also asked the victim\u2019s family to focus on F\u2019s health recovery.\nIn addition to medical treatment, the victim\u2019s family requested\nassistance to restore F\u2019s psychological condition after the incident,\u201d\nTri Handayani explained.<\/p>\n<p>Police assured that they would help protect the victim from becoming\na target of bullying again when he returns to school.<\/p>\n<p>To date, F\u2019s condition continues to be monitored by the medical team\nand is reported to be improving. Police and the school are still\nmonitoring the development of the case and reminding all parties not to\ncarry out retaliatory actions that could trigger new problems.
