Naila, a 12-year-old student from Sekolah Rakyat in Makassar who previously touched President Prabowo Subianto's heart, has received a new decent home through a collaboration between central and local governments, marking a significant improvement from her family's previous precarious living conditions. This initiative, prompted by the President's directive, addresses the needs of underprivileged families in the area, with 30 homes planned in Salodong. The change has boosted Naila's confidence and allowed her to return home for Eid with greater joy and family plans.

This year’s Eid feels different for Naila (12). Naila, a student from
Sekolah Rakyat known to the public for moving President Prabowo Subianto
to tears, is now beginning to find her happiness with a new decent
home.

Standing in front of the house in her SRMP 23 Makassar uniform and
red beret, Naila expressed her gratitude with a trembling voice.

“Thank you, Mr President Prabowo, for giving me a house. May you
always be healthy, long-lived, and blessed with increasing prosperity,”
said Naila in a written statement on Sunday (22/3/2026).

For the first time, she will return home for Eid this year carrying
happy news.

No longer living in a cramped 5x4 metre shack on someone else’s land,
but in a new residence in the Salodong area, the result of collaboration
between the central and local governments.

“It’s more comfortable than before. Previously, it was inadequate.
And many people lived there,” said Naila.

“Now the place is already decent. I have my own house,” she
added.

Naila is known as a child from a poor family in Makassar City, South
Sulawesi. Her father, Syamsul (37), works as a parking attendant and
construction labourer. Her mother, Nurlia (35), helps her grandmother
sell goods.

When the PKH Accompaniment Team inspected Naila’s home conditions,
the house walls were cracked, the roof leaked, the floor was dusty
earth, and the entire structure stood on someone else’s land.

The surrounding environment was not much different. Neighbours lived
in vulnerable conditions, all needing intervention.

Previously, President Prabowo had requested that these families be
relocated immediately.

The Makassar City Government responded quickly by preparing land in
Salodong, where 30 decent homes will be built in stages.

A touching scene was seen when Naila received the key to her new
home. She did not enter immediately and just stared at it from outside,
as if confirming that what was in front of her truly belonged to
her.

As the door was opened, a small but clean room appeared, with white
panel walls and soft light from the window, an atmosphere she had never
experienced before.

In her bedroom, Naila arranged a small teddy bear doll on the table.
Her mother helped tidy up while chuckling softly.

In the corner of the living room, a fan stood, while a small fridge
was filled with basic supplies like eggs and drinking water.

The house porch was set with two orange chairs, where Naila often
sits to relax.

A small shoe rack was arranged near the door. Everything looked new,
organised, and gave a familiar impression.

This small change has transformed how Naila sees herself. She feels
valued, cared for, and deserving of a better future.

This year’s Eid, Naila returns home with a lighter heart. She has
planned her trip home.

“Going home to meet grandma, making family events,” explained
Naila.

The principal of SRMP 23 Makassar, Radya, is grateful for the
transformation in her student’s life.

“Naila, who was initially shy, is now more confident and cheerful.
She brings positive energy to her friends,” said Radya.

The school ensures all students travel home safely.

“Homecoming transport is prepared, complete with hampers for
parents,” she concluded.
",
