According to news reports, the fatal bus accidents suffered by
\nUniversity of Sriwijaya students often happen on the Palembang-
\nIndralaya route. If action is not taken, other unwitting students
\nwill essentially be waiting for their turn to take a death ride.<\/p>\n
These youths, the nation's future, are the victims of a
\ndecision to move the university campus to Indralaya. The decision
\nwas premature because preparations are still not finished.<\/p>\n
Some have suggested building a railway straight to the campus
\nfrom the Payakabung station, in addition to the two-lane highway
\nfrom Kertapati that is being built.<\/p>\n
We accept these plans, but students will continue to die in
\nroad accidents until construction is complete.<\/p>\n
In my opinion, the right decision is to defer moving the
\nuniversity campus to Indralaya, and stick to the old one in Bukit
\nBesar.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, the old campus should be improved, along with
\nits transportation system, which should be built according to a
\nfeasibility program.<\/p>\n
To prevent an increase in the number of victims we hope that a
\nharmonious solution can be found.<\/p>\n
