        "content": "<p>DKI Jakarta\u2019s Commission B of the DPRD has stressed that the incident\ninvolving Trans-Jakarta fleets on Corridor 13 (Puri Beta-Petukangan)\nshould become a moment for a comprehensive evaluation. Passenger safety\nis a crucial aspect that must not be compromised by the operator of\npublic transport.<\/p>\n<p>Nova Harivan Paloh, head of the DPRD DKI Jakarta Commission B, said\nthe incident involving BMP 263 and MYS 17100 on the Swadarma to Cipulir\nstretch on Monday 23 February was a hard alarm for management.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This incident must be a wake-up call for Trans-Jakarta so that\nsimilar events do not recur,\u2019 Paloh asserted as he chaired the meeting\nto discuss the Pra-Rencana Kerja Pemerintah Daerah (Pra-RKPD) for 2027\nin Jakarta, on Wednesday 4 March.<\/p>\n<p>Priority: Safety for millions of residents<\/p>\n<p>Paloh reminded that Trans-Jakarta carries a heavy responsibility as\nthe backbone of the capital\u2019s transport. Safety and operational\nstandards must be tightened in line with the high daily numbers of\nusers.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Trans-Jakarta carries around 1.3 million passengers each day, so\nsafety aspects must be genuinely enhanced,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>The legislature highlighted several crucial points, from the drivers\u2019\nphysical condition to the effectiveness of on-site technology oversight.\n\u2018We also asked whether the monitoring system through the Command Centre\nis already operating optimally,\u2019 Paloh added.<\/p>\n<p>Response from the Provincial Government<\/p>\n<p>In response to the call, Eli Suharini Eliawati, Assistant to the\nEconomy and Finance of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Secretary, assured\nthat the Government of the Province (Pemprov) has conducted a rapid\nintrospection.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018With yesterday\u2019s incident, the governor has issued directions to us,\nand this is a basis for introspection for Trans-Jakarta and its staff,\u2019\nEli said.<\/p>\n<p>Besides examining potential human error, Pemprov DKI is now analysing\ntechnical variables that could trigger accidents. This covers vehicle\nsuitability (kelaikan armada) and drivers\u2019 welfare.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We are also looking at vehicle age, driver rest facilities, and\nworking-hour arrangements that warrant attention,\u2019 Eli concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Commission B DPRD DKI Jakarta is committed to continuing to monitor\nthis process through subsequent hearings with the relevant BUMD to\nensure that public transport safety standards in Jakarta remain at the\nhighest level.<\/p>",
