The Indonesian Energy Risk Management Association (AMREI) held a\nnational training session themed Risk Culture and National Development\nRisk Management in Jakarta on Wednesday (1\/4) to strengthen risk\nawareness culture across various sectors. This initiative targets\ngovernment agencies, institutions, companies, and the academic\ncommunity. AMREI\u2019s General Chairman, Rifky Assamady, emphasised that\ncollaboration with universities is highly strategic to equip students\nwith risk management competencies before they enter the workforce, while\nalso ensuring the sustainability of energy resilience and national\ndevelopment stability.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, the man familiarly known as Roy revealed that AMREI\nwill soon sign memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with several\nuniversities, including Universitas Borobudur. Additionally, AMREI is\npreparing a policy brief as recommendations to strengthen energy sector\nrisk governance, which will be proposed to relevant ministries and\ninstitutions. According to him, the main principle of risk management is\nto instil a sense of belonging and sense of crisis in every individual\nwithin the organisation to enable the formulation of low-budget,\nhigh-impact strategies amid current budget efficiency challenges.<\/p>\n
Risk management, Roy continued, becomes key when budgets are\nshrinking through the creation of a risk register focused on high-impact\npriorities with efficient costs, covering financial, legal, and\nprocurement aspects. The implementation of this training is also a\nstrategic step to support the implementation of Regulation Per-02 of\n2023 and to strengthen awareness of National Development Risk Management\nin accordance with Presidential Regulation 39 of 2023. Amid uncertain\nglobal geopolitical dynamics, serious application of risk management\nbecomes an absolute requirement for institutions and companies to\nsurvive and possess high resilience.<\/p>\n
AMREI now positions itself as a strategic advisory partner and\necosystem facilitator that harmonises cross-institutional sectoral\ncommunication. Through an analytical mentoring approach, AMREI\nencourages a policy shift from reactive to anticipatory governance. This\naims to control fiscal risks from an early stage and anticipate\npotential crises in a targeted manner. Roy stressed the importance of\nbuilding a risk culture to avoid silo mentalities and create adaptive\nand collaborative cross-functional synergies.<\/p>\n
Philosophically, Roy reflected that the value of risk management\naligns with life\u2019s principles and religious teachings that demand\nsteadfastness, honesty, and openness in managing responsibilities. On\nthe other hand, AMREI\u2019s General Secretary, Mohamad Soleh, added that\nthis training aims to build collective awareness of strategic energy\nrisks, particularly the threat of global energy crises that could\npressure fiscal conditions and disrupt public and private\noperations.<\/p>\n
To instil this risk awareness culture, AMREI employs an innovative\nmethod in the form of an interactive board game. This method was chosen\nso that participants can understand the consequences of every decision\nin a deeper and more enjoyable way. Through the game, each individual is\ninvited to share experiences regarding positive and negative behaviours\nthat have occurred in the field.
