Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Bambang Soesatyo\nhas received an award at the KWP Awards 2026 event organised by the\nParliamentary Journalists\u2019 Coordinating Body (KWP). The event was held\nin the Pustakaloka Room, Nusantara IV Building, Parliament Complex,\nSenayan, Jakarta, today.<\/p>\n
At the event, Bamsoet won in the category of \u2018Legislator Driving\nProfessionalism of Institutions and Law Enforcement Apparatus\u2019. The\naward was given for Bamsoet\u2019s consistency in promoting the strengthening\nof professionalism, integrity, and institutional capacity of law\nenforcement apparatus in Indonesia, from the National Police (Polri),\nIndonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), to the Attorney General\u2019s\nOffice.<\/p>\n
\u201cI interpret this award as a mandate as well as a reminder that\nefforts to strengthen the professionalism of law enforcement apparatus\nmust continue to be consistently and sustainably monitored,\u201d Bamsoet\nstated in his remarks on Thursday (16\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
This 20th Speaker of the House of Representatives stated that the\nchallenges of law enforcement in Indonesia today are no longer simple.\nThe complexity of crimes, from corruption, cybercrime, to cross-border\ncriminal acts, demands that law enforcement apparatus work more\nprofessionally and adaptively.<\/p>\n
Data from various institutions also records that public trust in\nlegal institutions remains fluctuating. Therefore, sustained efforts are\nneeded to improve the integrity and capacity of the apparatus.<\/p>\n
Bamsoet revealed that the House of Representatives through its\nlegislative and oversight functions plays a strategic role in ensuring\nthat legal reforms run smoothly. Various amendments to laws,\ninstitutional strengthening, and budget support become important\ninstruments to strengthen the performance of Polri, TNI, the Attorney\nGeneral\u2019s Office, and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in\nupholding the supremacy of law.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe professionalism of law enforcement apparatus must be supported\nby a strong system, effective oversight, and continuous improvement in\nthe quality of human resources,\u201d said Bamsoet.<\/p>\n
Bamsoet emphasised that synergy among law enforcement institutions is\nimportant, including coordination in handling major and strategic\ncases.<\/p>\n
Without solid coordination, he said, law enforcement has the\npotential to run partially and ineffectively. Therefore, strengthening\nan integrated system becomes an urgent need.<\/p>\n
\u201cSynergy between Polri, TNI, and the Attorney General\u2019s Office must\ncontinue to be strengthened so that law enforcement does not run\nindependently, but is integrated and complementary,\u201d explained\nBamsoet.<\/p>\n
Bamsoet added that improving the professionalism of the apparatus\nmust also be accompanied by transparency to the public. In the era of\ninformation openness, the public demands a clear, fair, and accountable\nlegal process.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that public trust is the main key to the success of law\nenforcement institutions.<\/p>\n
\u201cPublic trust is the main foundation. Without trust, no matter how\nstrong the institution is built, it will be difficult to achieve\nlegitimacy,\u201d Bamsoet concluded.<\/p>\n
