        "content": "<p>Street vendors occupy City Hall<\/p>\n<p>BUKITTINGGI, West Sumatra: Hundreds of street vendors occupied<br>\nthe Bukittinggi City Hall on Wednesday in protest against the<br>\ndemolition of their kiosks.<\/p>\n<p>Eri Pangeran, spokesman for the vendors, said they were upset<br>\nafter security and order officials launched a cleanup operation<br>\nand demolished their kiosks near the Aurkuning Tower. Eri said<br>\nthat the traders had been prohibited from doing businesses in the<br>\narea.<\/p>\n<p>The traders asked the Bukittinggi administration to compensate<br>\ntheir losses resulting from the demolition. They also demanded<br>\nthat their kiosks be repaired.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate interview the head of the Bukittinggi Land<br>\nTransportation Agency, Boy Razhar, said that the operation was<br>\nnot against the law. &quot;The most important thing is that they can<br>\ndo their businesses again after the nearby bus terminal project<br>\nis completed.<\/p>\n<p>Boy confirmed that his office initiated the operation due to<br>\nthe ongoing bus terminal project.(28\/sur)<\/p>",
