        "content": "<p>Street vehicle robbers busted<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Two men were arrested in separate places on<br>\nThursday for respectively attempting to rob a Kijang van and a<br>\nmotorcycle from the owners, an officer said.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta Police spokesman Lt. Col. Zainuri Lubis told reporters<br>\nthat the first suspected vehicle thief, identified as Hendrik<br>\nJayadi, was apprehended at 1 a.m. on Jl. Raya Pademangan, North<br>\nJakarta by dozens of local residents.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old jobless man was immediately surrounded by the<br>\ncrowd, who rushed to the scene after hearing the scream of Zaenal<br>\nArifin, the owner of the Kijang van.<\/p>\n<p>According to Zaenal, the suspect blocked his way and pointed<br>\nhis knife at him and asked Zaenal to get out of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Knowing that there were groups of people nearby, Zaenal then<br>\nshouted loudly for help.<\/p>\n<p>Officer Lubis said that the suspect was beaten first by the<br>\nmob before they handed him over to the nearby police station.<\/p>\n<p>About half an hour later on nearby Jl. Jembatan Tiga in<br>\nPenjaringan, the second suspect, Peter Budi Patra, was arrested<br>\nby patrol police while trying to rob a motorcycle from the owner<br>\nwith his knife. (jun)<\/p>",
