Washington stated its\naim was to cripple Iran\u2019s ability to target civilian sailors and\ncommercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Iran\u2019s Islamic\nRevolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) asserted on Monday (13\/7\/2026) that the\nStrait of Hormuz is their territory. Tehran claimed to have closed the\nwaterway again, triggering global uncertainty over the smooth flow of\nenergy logistics. The strait is a passage for a fifth of the world\u2019s oil\nand gas before the war broke out.
