Stork Group to expand manufacturing services<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Stork Group of the Netherlands plans to
\nexpand its industrial activities near here next month to improve
\nits manufacturing and engineering services in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
A Stork director, Hans J.G. ten Kate, told reporters after a
\none-day seminar on energy at the Shangri-La Hotel yesterday,
\nStork's Indonesian subsidiary, PT Stork Engineering and
\nContracting Indonesia, operates a manufacturing factory in
\nCikarang, east of here, which deals with engineering services for
\nthe oil and gas sector.<\/p>\n
John Strating, president of Stork's Engineering and
\nContracting Group, told The Jakarta Post his company will spend
\nover US$200 million for the expansion of the industry.<\/p>\n
The expansion, to be called a Stork manufacturing and
\nengineering house, will produce various equipment and facilities
\nfor the energy fields, manufacturing industry as well as
\nmultidisciplinary engineering, Strating said.<\/p>\n
"Stork, which has a turnover of 4 billion Dutch guilders
\n(US$2.5 billion), is committed to transferring its technology and
\nexpertise to Indonesian partners," he said.<\/p>\n
He added his company will export its industrial products to
\nother members of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations.<\/p>\n
Stork so far marketed its printing facilities for textile,
\nfood producing equipment, diesel power generators, boilers for
\nthe sugar industry, pumps, and palm oil machinery on the domestic
\nmarket.<\/p>\n
Stork, in cooperation with Indomarine, a subsidiary of Astra
\nInternational Inc., also manufactures palm oil plants. It
\nrecently exported a plant to the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n
According to the Investment Coordinating Board, the
\nNetherlands' cumulative investments in Indonesia from 1967 up to
\nJuly of this year reached US$6.80 billion. (fhp)<\/p>",
