Stop exploiting North Bandung<\/p>\n

The whole exploitation of the North Bandung area, West Java,
\nshould be put to an end, mainly because it will result in the
\ndegradation of ecology to a wider area which, in turn, will be
\nhazardous to the ecosystem in Bandung and its surrounding areas.<\/p>\n
What is needed now is the political action of the West Java
\nGovernor to maintain ecological balance. We call on the Governor
\nto put aside consideration on practical economy and put a greater
\nstress on strategic economy by consistently implementing
\n\"sustainable development.\"<\/p>\n
We need to restore the ecological function of North Bandung.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that the ecosystem of North Bandung has
\nbeen continuously undergoing degradation to the present level
\nthat 12 percent of the air biology, top soil layer, hydrology and
\nmicro-organism has been damaged. The negative impact will be
\nclearly felt in ten year's time when changes of ecosystem balance
\ntake place.<\/p>\n
It is unwise for the Governor, in present conditions, to act
\nstrongly in favor of developers and put aside more strategical
\nareas, for the consideration of the balance of the ecosystem and
\nsocio-cultural values. It is highly important to see whether, in
\nthis context, there is a collusion between certain officials of
\nthe West Java administration, the developer and certain elements
\nwho back the projects.<\/p>\n
We do not want the Governor to become victim of a handful of
\ngreedy people. The sooner the Governor takes appropriate action
\nto save the North Bandung area from the exploitation of
\nirresponsible people the better.<\/p>\n
