        "content": "<p>STONEWARE EXHIBITION:<\/p>\n<p>JP\/byi<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Hartini Hartarto (right), who chairs the Indonesian<br>\nHandicraft Design Development Foundation, has a close look at a<br>\nstatue at a chignon stoneware exhibition at the Regent hotel on<br>\nJl. H.R. Rasuna Said, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition, which was opened by Mrs. Hartini last night,<br>\nhas 57 stoneware statues priced between Rp 3 million (US$1,363)<br>\nand Rp 10 million each.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Hartini said in her address at the opening ceremony that<br>\nshe was proud of the exhibition because it showed that stoneware,<br>\nwhich in Indonesia used to be employed only for kitchen utensils,<br>\ncould now be transformed into valuable artistic works.<\/p>\n<p>What is special about chignon? It is not practical for daily<br>\nuse. Also, it is difficult to sleep with hair styled in buns like<br>\nthat.<\/p>\n<p>\"Indeed it is not practical, but I have made the chignon as<br>\nimaginative as possible,\" said artist F. Widayanto (second<br>\nright), the creator of the stoneware statues.<\/p>\n<p>Yanto, as Widayanto is popularly known, said his preferred<br>\nsubject for chignon statues was oriental women, particularly<br>\nJavanese women.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition, which is sponsored by the Indonesian Ceramic<br>\nAssociation in cooperation with the Regent Jakarta and The<br>\nJakarta Post, will run until Sept. 10.
