However, its utilisation needs to be\naddressed wisely and based on scientific considerations, so that the\ntechnology can provide sustainable benefits for society,\u201d she said in a\nstatement in Jakarta on Friday. She emphasised that higher education,\nscience, and technology are important foundations for sustainable\nnational development and increasing the nation\u2019s competitiveness. The\ndevelopment of AI, she said, encourages universities to find new models\nand ways of working to remain relevant amidst rapid technological\nchange. The cognitive psychology expert also stressed that universities\nmust have three main functions: creating knowledge, transmitting\nknowledge through education, and managing knowledge to provide benefits\nto society, in line with the implementation of the tri dharma of higher\neducation. Deputy Minister Stella also highlighted the importance of\nredefining the purpose of higher education in the AI era.
