STB opens Singapore Education Services Center<\/p>\n
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) recently opened its first
\nSingapore Education Services Center, reaffirming its commitment
\nto providing a holistic experience for international students in
\nSingapore.<\/p>\n
The center will provide one-stop access to information for
\ninternational students studying in Singapore and will cater to
\ntheir needs and well-being beyond the classroom.<\/p>\n
The Singapore Education Services Center is located in the arts
\nand learning hub at the YMCA Building at 1 Orchard Road, where
\ninternational students will find it most convenient to drop by
\nthe center for education counseling and research, or to mingle
\nwith their peers.<\/p>\n
Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Education Chan Soo
\nSen, who officiated the opening of the center, said: \"The center
\nprovides a one-stop shop for international students in Singapore.
\nIt should aim to become a welcoming haven, a home away from home.
\nThis will help Singapore establish itself as an education hub,
\nwhere international talents converge to teach, learn, share and
\ndiscover.\"<\/p>\n
STB's Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive, Lim Neo Chian,
\nexplained that, \"The opening of the Singapore Education Services
\nCenter is vital to the Board's plan to enhance international
\nstudents' experience in Singapore by making information readily
\navailable and easily accessible.\"<\/p>\n
In addition, the STB-run center will provide opportunities for
\ndirect interface with these students. Its strategic location in
\nthe center of the learning hub will also enable STB to feel the
\npulse of the visitors and better service their varying needs. Its
\nshop-front location will also enable us to build brand visibility
\nfor Singapore Education.<\/p>\n
One-Stop Center<\/p>\n
The Singapore Education Services Center will provide a central
\nfocal point for international students to enhance their learning
\nexperience outside the classroom by allowing students the
\nopportunity to meet and network with their peers during their
\nstay in Singapore.<\/p>\n
The center will be the home of the planned International
\nStudents Association, once they are officially registered, where
\nmembers can meet and facilitate student programs and activities
\nfor international students to network, interact and mingle.<\/p>\n
Through the forged friendships, these students will feel more
\nat home in Singapore as they plug into a vibrant global student
\ncommunity, make new friends and discover the richness of the
\ndifferent cultures that is inherent in the Singapore education
\nenvironment.<\/p>\n
The center will house a complete range of prospectuses
\ncontaining information on educational institutions and their
\nvarious course offerings. Education counseling will be made
\navailable to students to advise them on the various education
\noptions, registration procedures and processes.<\/p>\n
The center will also be a one-stop resource center for all
\nSingapore Education-related information for international
\nstudents to ensure that they can conveniently obtain all the
\nnecessary post-arrival information to help them assimilate and
\nintegrate quickly into Singapore society.<\/p>\n
With the opening of the Singapore Education Service Center,
\nSTB would look into replicating the concept of the Singapore
\nEducation Services Center in key markets in the near future. This
\nis to enable potential students to have access to accurate and
\ntimely information on Singapore Education to aid them in making
\ninformed decisions about studying in Singapore.<\/p>\n
