Then, state losses due to misuse of
subsidised LPG at around Rp749,294,400,000.

“This is a significant figure; these subsidised goods should be
utilised or received by the underprivileged community but are being
misused,” he explained.

Furthermore, Nunung revealed that the purpose of law enforcement
against the misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG, besides providing a
deterrent effect for the perpetrators, is also a preventive step to
avoid even greater state financial losses due to the increasing burden
of government subsidies.

On the same occasion, Director of Special Criminal Investigation at
Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General of Police Moh. Irhamni, stated that
in this law enforcement effort, throughout 2025 to January-April 2026,
they have designated 672 suspects.

“First, in 2025, the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation at
Bareskrim Polri and regional police commands have uncovered criminal
acts of misusing subsidised BBM and LPG in 568 locations with 583
suspects spread across 33 provinces. One can imagine how massive the
misuse of BBM is, occurring both in Java and outside Java,” revealed
Irhamni.

“As for the uncoverings in 2026 so far, there are 97 locations with
89 suspects. It can be seen that it might have decreased somewhat but is
still quite high, of course,” he continued.

For these incidents, the perpetrators are charged under the alleged
misuse of BBM or LPG trading as stipulated in Article 55 of Law Number
22 of 2001 on Oil and Gas, as amended by Article 40 number 9 of Law
Number 6 of 2023 on the enactment of Government Regulation in Lieu of
Law Number 2 of 2022 on Job Creation into Law, with a maximum penalty of
6 years imprisonment and a fine of up to Rp60 billion.
",
