State-owned hotels get new GMs<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): PT Hotel Indonesia International Corporation and
\nNatour (HIIN), a state-owned hotel chain, restructured its
\norganization yesterday by appointing new general managers for
\nseven of its 17 hotels.<\/p>\n
The company's president, Widjaja Sugarda, swore in Ismojo
\nMartokusumo as general manager of Hotel Indonesia, a five-star
\nhotel in the capital, to replace I Made Gita, who has been
\npromoted as operation director of the company.<\/p>\n
Together with 25 other executives, Putu Darma Suta was sworn
\nin as general manager of Hotel Wisata International, a three-star
\nhotel located behind Hotel Indonesia.<\/p>\n
I Gede Arianta was appointed to lead Hotel Ambarukmo in
\nYogyakarta, Thalib Rizal to lead the Samudra Beach Hotel in
\nPelabuhan Ratu, West Java, A.J. Soegianto to lead the Manado
\nBeach Hotel in Manado, North Sulawesi, M. Abbas Yoenoes to lead
\nthe Natour Garuda Hotel in Yogyakarta and AA. Mas Widyawati to
\nlead the Natour Kuta Beach Hotel in Bali.<\/p>\n
Widjaja also swore in Iskandar Zulkarnain as general manager
\nfor the company's catering division, Natour Catering.<\/p>\n
HIIN is a merger of two state-owned hotel companies, PT Hotel
\nIndonesia International and PT Natour.<\/p>\n
HIIN's chief commissioner, Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti, said
\nyesterday that the company is now facing various problems --
\nparticularly the old age of its hotels -- in competing with other
\nhotels in the country.<\/p>\n
The company, therefore, plans to improve its management and to
\nrenovate its aging hotels to increase it's level of
\ncompetitiveness.<\/p>\n
According to Widjaja, the company will need about Rp 300
\nbillion (US$138.8 million) for the refurbishment of 15 of its
\nhotels.<\/p>\n
He said HIIN also plans to construct six 50-room hotels in
\nKupang and Flores in East Nusa Tenggara, Biak and Jayapura in
\nIrian Jaya, Tarakan in East Kalimantan and Ambon in Maluku.(icn)<\/p>",
