Start cleaning up at 'RRI'<\/p>\n

Happy 56th anniversary to Radio Republik Indonesia (the state
\nradio broadcasting company) on Sept. 11, 2001!<\/p>\n
I sincerely hope most of the officials (both in the central
\nand the regional offices) can be cured of the illness they have
\nlong suffered, kleptomania, which regretfully is still rampant
\ntoday.<\/p>\n
Inventory items belonging to the government, such as pianos,
\ncomputers, televisions, radios, furniture and so forth become the
\nproperty of new owners. Collusion with suppliers causes inflated
\nprices, while the quality is questionable. These are some of the
\nreasons why the output of RRI is up to now disappointing, in
\nspite of the huge funds provided by the government.<\/p>\n
At the age of 56 it is high time for RRI to improve. No more
\nmanipulation over transmitters, generators, air conditioners and
\nso on. Consistent moral commitment of its officials, starting
\nfrom the directors, is required so that the eradication of KKN
\n(corruption, collusion and nepotism) can be realized as one of
\nthe items in the reform agenda in the country (Decree no.
\nXI\/MPR\/1998 of the People's Consultative Assembly), including
\nwithin RRI.<\/p>\n
I express the above concern only because of my love and sense
\nof belonging as a former employee of RRI.<\/p>\n
