        "content": "<p>Kunming (ANTARA) \u2013 Yunnan Agricultural University on Wednesday (20\nMay) signed an industry-university cooperation agreement with Starbucks\nChina, aimed at integrating academic research strengths with industrial\nresources, and to promote talent training and industrial upgrading for\nChina\u2019s coffee industry.<\/p>\n<p>Wang Weibin, a senior official at Yunnan Agricultural University,\nsaid the institution has long focused on coffee-related research, and\nhoped the partnership could serve as a good example of\neducation-industry collaboration and support the healthy development of\nChina\u2019s coffee industry.<\/p>\n<p>Under the agreement, the two parties will launch an exclusive\nStarbucks-themed cooperation programme. The university will leverage its\nexpertise in technology innovation and industrial services, while\nStarbucks China will offer internship opportunities and career\nmentorship for related departments.<\/p>\n<p>Yunnan Agricultural University launched China\u2019s first bachelor\nprogramme in Coffee Science and Engineering in 2024, which possesses\nstrong research capabilities in coffee variety breeding and cultivation\ntechnology.<\/p>\n<p>As a major base of coffee production in China, Yunnan has witnessed\nstrong growth in the local coffee industry. Official data show that the\nprovince has about 97,533 hectares of coffee plantations with a green\ncoffee bean output of 138,900 tonnes in 2025, the highest in the country\nin terms of planting area, production and industry value.<\/p>\n<p>Customs statistics show that Yunnan exported 19,000 tonnes of coffee\nbeans and finished coffee products worth 860 million yuan last year.\nYunnan coffee products were sold to 43 countries and regions, including\nthe Netherlands, Vietnam and Germany, and are growing in global\npopularity.<\/p>\n<p>Starbucks China said the partnership marks an important step in\ndeepening its presence in Yunnan and empowering the local coffee\nindustry, opening a new chapter in joint talent development, bilateral\ngrowth and coffee technology innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides will focus on talent training and\nindustry-university-research collaboration to help enhance the\ninternational competitiveness of Yunnan\u2019s coffee industry.<\/p>",
