Staple food supplies ample<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): People should not worry about food supplies as
\nthe city has more than enough for at least one month, an official
\nsaid on Monday.<\/p>\n
"Even if the supply of staple food is halted for one month
\nbecause of any incident, we'll still have enough," head of the
\ncity economics bureau, Dameria Saragih, was quoted by Antara as
\nsaying.<\/p>\n
He said the city's logistics depot had at least 86,013 tons of
\nrice, not including the 2,700 tons that arrived in the capital on
\nMonday. If Jakarta's residents need 3,000 tons a day, the stock
\nwill last 30 days, he said.<\/p>\n
Data on July 17 showed that vendors in the city's main market
\nin Cipinang, East Jakarta, had 10,606 tons of rice. Every week,
\n5,000 tons of rice is delivered to the market.<\/p>\n
The news agency also reported that the city had adequate
\nlivestock, vegetables, tubers and fruits.<\/p>",
