Srilankan: An Airline with Many Awards<\/p>\n
SriLankan Airlines has a route network spanning 30 cities in
\n20 countries from Europe, through the Middle East and Indian sub
\ncontinent to South East Asia and the Far East.
\nThe airlines is party owned by Emirates airlines of the UAE.<\/p>\n
SriLankan is an all-Airbus carrier with a fleet comprising two
\nA302s, four A330s and three A340s. The A330s and A340s offer a
\nsuperior in flight product with telephones and 17-channel TVs in
\nevery seat. Business Class additionally offers personal video
\nplayers and a choice of 34 videos. Air-to-ground fax and laptop
\nre-charging facilities are also available. Twenty-two channels to
\naudio entertainment incorporating a variety of music in different
\nlanguages are available in both Economy and Business Classes on
\nthe A330 and A340. Seats are exceptionally comfortable with head
\nand footrests and lumbar support facilities. In Business Class
\nthese work electronically.<\/p>\n
Business Class seats on all aircraft are placed two abreast so
\nthat every passenger gets either a window or aisle seat, which is
\na feature in First Class in most international airlines. The
\nBusiness Class menu offers a choice of four selections as opposed
\nto the usual three on most airlines. A choice of 12 types of
\nCeylon tea is also available in this class of service.<\/p>\n
Skywards, the frequent flyer program that SriLankan partners
\nwith Emirates offers members benefits on both SriLankan and
\nEmirates and a host of other airlines (British Airways, United
\nAirlines, Continental, Delta, Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines
\nand South African Airways), financial service, car rental, hotel,
\nleisure and lifestyle partners. Miles flown on SriLankan,
\nEmirates or any partner airline and Miles accrued when availing
\nof the services of Skywards partners will accrue to a member's
\nbenefit offering passengers a wider choice to earn and redeem
\nMiles. Skywards is designed not just as a miles-for-miles
\nprogram, but as a world-class business and travel club for the
\nairlines' most loyal customers that extends benefits beyond the
\nimmediate travel experience.<\/p>\n
SriLankan Airlines is proud to have been voted Best Airlines
\nof the Year - Central Asia in 2001 as well as in 2002, by UK's
\nSkytrax Research, which each year conducts the largest passenger
\nsurvey in the airline industry. Each survey is conducted over a
\nperiod of nine months. In the first instance over 2.7 million
\npersons worldwide participated, while in the second, over 4.1
\nmillion persons worldwide participated. In 2001, this was the
\nairline's first major accolade since revitalizing its service to
\na world-class caliber. The consecutive victory in 2002 affirms
\nconsistency in world-class service and is a seal of approval from
\ncustomers of same.<\/p>\n
In 2002, SriLankan won the prestigious TTG Asia's award for
\nBest Airline in South Asia for 2002. Reise and Preise magazine of
\nGermany voted SriLankan in the top 10 of Best Economy Class
\nService in 2001 and in the top five in 2002. Selling Long Haul
\nmagazine voted SriLankan Best Long Haul Carrier to South Asia
\nthis year. SriLankan is fast joining the ranks of Asia's top
