        "content": "<p>Spratlys tops Li Peng&apos;s agenda<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Chinese premier Li Peng will visit<br>\nMalaysia for four days beginning today with the dispute over the<br>\nSpratly islands topping the agenda, officials said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Kuala Lumpur is expected to impress on Beijing that Spratlys<br>\nclaimants should not use force,&quot; a foreign ministry official told<br>\nAFP. Li last visited Malaysia in 1990.<\/p>\n<p>Scattered across the South China Sea, the Spratlys are a chain<br>\nof islets, reefs and shoals claimed partly or entirely by China,<br>\nTaiwan and four ASEAN members -- Brunei, Malaysia, the<br>\nPhilippines and Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p>In April, the Philippines military claimed China had deployed<br>\nfrigates around one of the islands.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts said the neighboring Paracel Islands are a possible<br>\nadditional future flashpoint for the East Asia region.<\/p>",
