S'pore's deputy PM launches ISFA<\/p>\n
SINGAPORE: Indonesian residents of Singapore as well as
\nSingaporean citizens last month established a new association to
\nstrengthen the two countries' people-to-people contacts in the
\ncity-state, the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore said in a
\nstatement.<\/p>\n
The Indonesia-Singapore Friendship Association (ISFA), a non-
\ngovernmental organization, is aimed at improving contacts between
\nthe two countries. It will also focus its activities on education
\nand socio-cultural fields.<\/p>\n
\"ISFA will focus on cooperation between the two countries in
\neducation and social cultural fields as part of second track
\ndiplomacy, which is the domain of the non-governmental players,\"
\nthe statement, which was sent to The Jakarta Post by the embassy,
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
ISFA was officially inaugurated by Singapore Deputy Prime
\nMinister Tony Tan last month at Hotel Meritus Mandarin in
\nSingapore. The inaugural ceremony was attended by around 600
\npeople, including Indonesia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan
\nWirayuda and State Minister of Administrative Reforms Taufik
\nEffendi.<\/p>\n
ISFA will also begin offering Indonesian language courses,
