S'pore mission to Cambodia<\/p>\n
SINGAPORE (AFP): Singapore would send a trade mission to
\nCambodia from August 1-4, the Trade Development Board (TDB) said
\nFriday.<\/p>\n
The four-day visit is in conjunction with Minister for Trade
\nand Industry Minister George Yeo's visit to the country, it said.<\/p>\n
"The political and business situation in Cambodia has
\nstabilized," said TDB's Deputy Director Cheang Kok Yun for the
\nSoutheast Asia region.<\/p>\n
"This mission will reopen the doors for many of our business
\npeople who are still keen to venture into the country," he said.
\nYeo would hold talks with Prime Minister Hun Sen during his
\nvisit.<\/p>\n
The mission comprises 18 companies from sectors including
\nproperty development, tourism and manufacturing.<\/p>\n
Two way trade between the two countries rose to S$779.8
\nmillion (US$448.1 million) in 1999 from 595.1 million in 1998.<\/p>\n
The city-state's investment in Cambodia at the end of 1999 is
\nestimated to be US$224 million.<\/p>",
