        "content": "<p>S'pore, Malaysia naval exercise<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE (AFP): Singapore and Malaysia began on Tuesday a<br>\nfive-day joint naval exercise to bolster understanding between<br>\ntheir two navies.<\/p>\n<p>The shore-based war games, codenamed Exercise MALAPURA 12\/00,<br>\nwill involve nine command teams from the Singapore Navy and the<br>\nRoyal Malaysian Navy, a joint statement issued here said.<\/p>\n<p>Command teams from both navies will participate in joint<br>\nplanning and execution of naval operations plans during the<br>\nexercises at Singapore's tactical training center in Tuas Naval<br>\nBase.<\/p>\n<p>\"The exercise will allow the two navies to share professional<br>\nknowledge and foster understanding between them,\" the statement<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>This year's wargames mark the start of a three-year cycle of<br>\nexercises between the Singapore and Malaysian navies -- the first<br>\nand second years confined to onshore and the third year involving<br>\nexercises at sea.<\/p>",
