        "content": "<p>S'pore launches RI aid scheme<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE (AFP): Singapore on Friday launched a S$400 million<br>\n(US$235.3 million) finance scheme to encourage local companies to<br>\ninvest in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme is run by the Economic Development Board (EDB),<br>\nSingapore's state investment promotion arm and caters to both<br>\nlarge companies and  small and medium enterprises which have at<br>\nleast 51 percent local equity.<\/p>\n<p>The EDB said in a statement loans under the scheme would be<br>\nused to finance factory, machinery and equipment investments by<br>\nSingapore companies into Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong during his visit to<br>\nJakarta last month had offered the loan assistance scheme to<br>\nencourage local companies to invest in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Goh said Singapore wanted to help accelerate Indonesia's<br>\neconomic recovery following political and economic turmoil<br>\nstemming from Asia's financial crisis which erupted in mid-1997.<\/p>",
