        "content": "<p>S'pore hunts armed fugitives<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE: Hundreds of Singaporean soldiers and police combed<br>\nthrough thick mangroves on a military training island on<br>\nThursday, hunting for three armed fugitives who escaped from<br>\nMalaysia, the defense ministry said.<\/p>\n<p>The suspected thieves fled the scene of an armed robbery in<br>\nthe Malaysian state of Johor using a speedboat, and are believed<br>\nto be hiding on Singapore's northeast Tekong island.<\/p>\n<p>More than 400 soldiers and police searched the dense tropical<br>\nforest aided by a dozen dogs as helicopters searched by air,<br>\nministry spokeswoman Lee May Lin said.<\/p>\n<p>Police officials in Johor said they had \"no information\" about<br>\na robbery or the fugitives.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore defense officials said also they had no details<br>\nabout the robbery.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysian authorities requested Singapore's help in locating<br>\nthe suspects at 8:45 a.m. (7:45 a.m. in Jakarta) on Thursday<br>\nmorning, the ministry said. --AP<\/p>",
