        "content": "<p>S'pore denies meeting on rupiah<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE (Reuters): The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)<br>\ndenied rumors yesterday that it was due to meet banks to discuss<br>\ntrading in the Indonesian rupiah.<\/p>\n<p>An MAS spokesman told Reuters by telephone: \"That's not true.\"<\/p>\n<p>There were rumors on foreign exchange markets earlier on<br>\nFriday that Singapore's de facto central bank had called in local<br>\nbanks to discuss the rupiah and the settlement of trades in the<br>\ncurrency.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesian central bank Bank Indonesia announced earlier it<br>\nwas not doing any clearing yesterday because of three days of<br>\nviolence in the capital, Jakarta. Clearing would resume on Monday<br>\nif the situation improved, an official said.<\/p>",
