        "content": "<p>S'pore container handling up<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE (AFP): A survey conducted by the Port Authority of<br>\nSingapore (PSA) has forecast 15-percent growth in container<br>\nhandling for 1994, a PSA publication said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore handled 9.05 million twenty-foot equivalent units<br>\n(TEUs) last year, a 20-percent increase over the previous year<br>\nand eight percent more than a previous forecast, the PSA said in<br>\nthe monthly Portview newsletter.<\/p>\n<p>Shipping lines, in a survey conducted last November, predicted<br>\na 15-percent growth in the volume of containers they would be<br>\nhandling this year.<\/p>\n<p>The PSA said that while the majority of the feeder operators<br>\npredicted a growth of more than 18 percent, the main line<br>\noperators were more conservative, forecasting growth of less than<br>\n10 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The PSA said the actual throughput of main line operators<br>\nusually showed higher growth.<\/p>",
