\u201cWe confirm that there was no fire at the KPK Merah Putih building,\u201d\nBudi said in a statement to journalists in Jakarta on Saturday, 29\nAugust 2026.<\/p>\n
Budi explained that the smoke seen coming from the building\noriginated from fogging activities being carried out in the building\narea.<\/p>\n
According to him, the fogging smoke triggered the fire detection\nequipment, causing the automatic fire suppression system to release\nsmoke.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fogging smoke was detected by the fire fighting equipment, which\nthen responded by automatically releasing smoke,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He explained that the fire fighting equipment in the KPK Merah Putih\nbuilding functions to release extinguishing smoke to address potential\nsparks in electronic devices.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo the smoke that appeared was not from a fire, but from the fire\nfighting equipment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Budi said the smoke emission occurred in the basement area,\nspecifically in the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) battery room.<\/p>\n
He assured that the situation is under control and the smoke has been\nminimised using extractors.<\/p>\n
