        "content": "<p>Spoiled food consumed by many<\/p>\n<p>BANJARNEGARA, Central Java (JP): Eleven residents of Plorengan<br>\nvillage in Banjarnegara regency fell unconscious after consuming<br>\ntempe bongkrek (fermented tofu cake) for lunch on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The victims, four of whom came from one family, are being<br>\ntreated at the Banjarnegara hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The residents reportedly could not afford any other dish.<\/p>\n<p>\"I've been told that many residents here have consumed tempe<br>\nbongkrek for the past seven months... they either buy it in<br>\nkiosks or make it themselves,\" Nurachmad, Banjaranegara regency<br>\nchief, said.<\/p>\n<p>A resident, 45-year-old Suyatno, told The Jakarta Post that<br>\ntempeh now sold for Rp 300 per piece, \"While with Rp 300 we can<br>\nget 10 tempe bongkrek.\"<\/p>\n<p>However, many stopped consuming tempe bongkrek after feeling<br>\nits effects, Suyatno said.
