Spiker stabbed after winning match<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Players from a rival team allegedly stabbed to
\ndeath a 25-year-old man after a volleyball match Sunday in
\nBekasi, the victim's brother claimed.<\/p>\n
Forensic doctors at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital in
\nCentral Jakarta said that the victim, Basiran, bled to death from
\ntwo stab wounds in his thigh and abdomen.<\/p>\n
His brother, Eddy, said Basiran arrived here from Bengkulu in
\nSouthern Sumatra about a week ago to look for a job.<\/p>\n
Eddy said at least four men attacked his brother after Basiran
\nled the Tugu Asri housing complex's volleyball team to a win
\nSunday evening against the Lemah Abang team.<\/p>\n
\"He likes volleyball and he's good at it, that's why he agreed
\nto join our housing complex's team,\" Eddy, who claims he watched
\nthe match and saw the stabbing, said.<\/p>\n
He is convinced that the rival team suspected that Basiran was
\na professional player hired by Tugu Asri.<\/p>\n
\"They were so angry at my brother because of his ability.\"<\/p>\n
When the game finished, four young men stopped Basiran and
\nchallenged him to fight, he said. But Basiran refused.<\/p>\n
Eddy said that one of the men had a knife and warned off
\nBasiran's friends.<\/p>\n
\"We tried to calm them down but we were outnumbered. In the
\nmiddle of negotiations, one of them hit Basiran in the face.\"<\/p>\n
He said the stabbing happened so quickly that Basiran was on
\nthe ground before anyone realized what was happening.<\/p>\n
\"I only saw my brother fall down with blood pouring out of his
\nstomach.\"<\/p>\n
Eddy and his friends allege that the attackers were some of
\nthe Lemah Abang team's players.<\/p>\n
They reported the stabbing to local police who arrested two
\nsuspects, he said.<\/p>\n
Eddy plans to take his brother's corpse to Bengkulu, where
\ntheir parents live, for burial. (04)<\/p>",
