As the special session of the People's Consultative Assembly
\n(MPR) draws nearer, the national political atmosphere is becoming
\nhotter. Meanwhile, the players in the House of Representatives
\n(DPR) and MPR wrestle with the agendas involving attractive
\npolitical positions, determining the national leader along with
\nhis or her subordinates. In other words, the issues up for
\ndiscussion are hardly touching the agenda: i.e., how to solve the
\nmultidimentional problems that are facing the nation at present.<\/p>\n
When observing legislators' behavior in the DPR\/MPR there is a
\nstrong impression that they are only thirsty for power and are
\nwhetting their appetite for positions. In regard to the national
\nproblems, the legislators simply assume that it all depends on
\nthe President. These legislators do not realize that their
\ncontribution would be of great value in the effort to overcome
\nnational instability which has caused prolonged economic and
\npolitical crises by engaging themselves in endless confrontations
\nrather than opening the door to a compromise.<\/p>\n
A compromise should not be perceived as political horse
\ntrading or sharing political power and positions. The compromise
\nwould be aimed at maintaining national integrity, putting state
\nand national interests above groups' and parties' interests or,
\neven personal interests. The present national condition requires
\nthat there is an urgent end to the confrontations, proportional
\nroles of all political entities and the establishment of a
\nsupremacy of law.<\/p>\n
As the holders of the political ball, the chairmen of the
\nDPR\/MPR should seek a win-win solution for the ongoing conflicts.
\nThe establishment of national integrity should be given a high
\npriority through designing a conceptual idea, without any group
\nfeeling shameful, whereas faulty management would only result in
\nthe ball being kicked into the valley of destruction. At that
\npoint the future of our country would be at great risk.<\/p>\n
