Spaniard's photos on show<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A charity photography exhibition by Spanish
\nphotographer Paco Corral, was opened on Wednesday by Spanish
\nAmbassador Antonio Segura Moris in the lobby of the Gran Melia
\nhotel in Kuningan, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The exhibition, titled A Glance at Indonesia, displays 39
\nblack-and-white photographs and six color images, taken by Corral
\nduring the past year.<\/p>\n
Embassy's cultural attache Miriam Padilla said the idea for
\nthe exhibition was prompted by a desire to help Indonesian
\nfamilies suffering from the crisis.<\/p>\n
\"(It) constitutes a homage to this country, whose people are
\ncurrently undergoing the trials of a crisis which will lead to a
\nbetter society.\"<\/p>\n
All works in the exhibition are for sale and are priced
\nbetween Rp 1 million and Rp 2 million.<\/p>\n
A book released to commemorate the exhibition, which
\nillustrates all pictures on display, is offered for sale at Rp
\n100,000 for the softcover edition and Rp 150,000 for the
\nhardcover version.<\/p>\n
\"All proceeds from the exhibition ... will be donated to
\ncharities through established institutions, such as the Salesian
\nFoundation, whose members are engaged in the honorable work of
\nproviding food to more than 2,000 children and older people,\"
\nMiriam said.<\/p>\n
Corral, a professional photographer in Spain, in a joint
\neffort with colleagues, previously issued an album with artistic
\nviews of Madrid and Spain in Black and White in an international
\nmagazine.<\/p>\n
This is Corral's third photography exhibition in Jakarta,
\nafter his 1996 and 1997 shows.<\/p>\n
