        "content": "<p>S&amp;P maintains RP debt rating<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE: Standard and Poors (S&amp;P) said on Monday that it was<br>\nmaintaining its BB long-term sovereign debt rating for the<br>\nPhilippines despite the failed weekend mutiny against President<br>\nGloria Arroyo.<\/p>\n<p>Takahira Ogawa, the agency&apos;s Asia-Pacific director for<br>\nsovereign ratings, said the revolt by some 300 men who seized a<br>\ncommercial complex in the Makati financial district might not be<br>\nsignificant in the long term.<\/p>\n<p>S&amp;P looks at the quality of the government and the size of the<br>\nmutiny is not significant, he told journalists.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We don&apos;t see it (affecting) the debt payments of the<br>\nPhilippines,&quot; he said.<\/p>\n<p>But he added that &quot;if there are more developments that call<br>\nfor a re-rating then we will review it.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The mutiny might have an effect on foreign exchange and<br>\nforeign direct investment, but no so much on the credit rating,<br>\nOgawa said. -- AFP<\/p>",
