NasDem Commission II representative Ujang Bey has criticised the\nSouth Sumatra Provincial Assembly\u2019s (DPRD Sumsel) procurement of two\nbilliards tables for the official residences of two assembly leaders\nworth 486.9 million rupiah. Ujang contends that such expenditure should\ninstead be prioritised for needs that support regional development.<\/p>\n
\u201cGiven the current situation and all regions facing budget efficiency\nchallenges, spending should be prioritised on regional budget items that\ncan support local area development,\u201d Ujang told journalists on Tuesday\n(10 March 2026).<\/p>\n
He stated that the public would find it difficult to justify budget\nexpenditure on billiards tables as a means of supporting assembly\nleadership activities. He urged local government (pemda) to exercise\ngreater care in using budgets.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe the public will find it very difficult to justify\nbilliards table spending with the rationale that it supports\nactivities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He cautioned that the regional budget (APBD) should be used for\npublic interest. According to him, inappropriate budget use can wound\npublic sentiment.<\/p>\n
\u201cPublic attention is now turning towards regional areas, meaning all\nregional budget policies in their implementation must not wound public\nsentiment, particularly anything that could provoke public unrest,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
According to Ujang, the procurement does not align with President\nPrabowo Subianto\u2019s directive on efficiency. The available budget, he\nsaid, must be utilised as effectively as possible for public\ninterest.<\/p>\n
\u201cPresident Prabowo\u2019s direction is very clear: budget efficiency must\nbe utilised as effectively as possible,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Previously, South Sumatra Provincial Assembly Chairman Andie\nDinialdie addressed the procurement of two billiards tables for the\nofficial residences of two assembly leaders worth 486.9 million rupiah.\nHe stated the billiards tables remain at the planning stage.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have already contacted the Assembly Secretary (Sekwan) to clarify\nregarding the procurement of these items. However, it should be known\nthat everything is still at the planning stage; there has been no\npurchase yet,\u201d said Andie, as reported by detikSumbagsel on Sunday (8\nMarch).<\/p>\n
According to data from the General Procurement Planning Information\nSystem (SIRUP) of the Government Goods\/Services Procurement Policy\nInstitute (LKPP) from the South Sumatra Provincial Assembly Secretariat\nas of 7 March 2026, the planned procurement includes a billiards table\nfor the chairman costing 151 million rupiah and another for deputy\nchairman III costing 335.9 million rupiah.<\/p>\n
Andie, who also chairs the All-Indonesia Billiards Sports Association\n(POBSI) for South Sumatra, stated that the billiards tables will serve\nas an alternative training venue for regional billiards athletes.<\/p>\n
