Preventive measures are being implemented by the East OKU Police
Resort as part of efforts to support environmental stability, safeguard
regional investments, and strengthen national economic resilience in the
face of the potential 2026 dry season.

East OKU Police Chief AKBP Adik Listiyono personally led the
inspection on Tuesday, 12 May 2026. The inspection was carried out at
two strategic plantation companies, namely PT Campang Tiga and PT Laju
Perdana Indah (LPI).

The activity was conducted to ensure that all plantation companies
have maximum readiness in detecting, responding to, and addressing
potential land fires before entering the peak dry season. This
inspection also represents the implementation of central government
directives on permanent land fire control and the Indonesian National
Police’s Precision Transformation policy in environmental
protection.

During the inspection at the PT Campang Tiga area, the East OKU
Police Chief along with his team directly reviewed the readiness of 21
water reservoir points, which serve as the main source of fire
suppression supply in the event of a land fire. In addition, officers
also checked the condition of the monitoring tower, which functions as
an early detection system for fire points in the plantation area.

Meanwhile, at PT Laju Perdana Indah, the inspection focused on the
operational readiness of 16 fire engine units along with field operator
personnel. The team also evaluated the integration of the app-based
monitoring system from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry,
Sipongi, to ensure real-time and accurate hotspot monitoring.

East OKU Police Chief AKBP Adik Listiyono emphasised that the
companies’ readiness to face karhutla threats is an important part of
protecting the community and the living environment.

“Companies are required to have readiness in personnel, facilities,
and measured handling patterns. Prevention is far more important than
action after a fire occurs. Therefore, we ensure that all companies
comply with SOPs for land management without burning,” said AKBP Adik
Listiyono to reporters on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

According to him, this supervision also serves as a form of the
Indonesian National Police’s commitment to supporting the sustainability
of the plantation sector as one of the pillars of the economy for the
community and the region in South Sumatra.

The preventive steps taken by the police ranks together with the
company are considered to have a strategic impact in curbing the risks
of haze, public health disruptions, and potential economic losses due to
large-scale land fires.

Head of Public Relations of South Sumatra Regional Police Kombes Pol
Nandang Mu’min Wijaya stated that Polda Sumsel continues to prioritise
preemptive and preventive measures in karhutla control through direct
field supervision.

“We ensure that all ranks are present among the community and
industrial sectors to provide assistance and supervision in preventing
land fires that can harm public and national interests. Karhutla
prevention is a shared responsibility that requires synergy from all
parties,” said Kombes Pol Nandang Mu’min Wijaya.

The series of inspection activities ended around 20:00 WIB in a safe
and conducive situation. Polda Sumsel ensures that karhutla readiness
supervision will continue to be carried out periodically to maintain
security stability, environmental conservation, and the sustainability
of development in the South Sumatra region.
",
