The\nactivity took place at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters on Thursday\n(11\/6\/2026). Also present to accompany the event were the Head of Ops,\nDirector of Intelligence and Security, Director of General Criminal\nInvestigation, Director of Samapta, Commander of the Brimob (Mobile\nBrigade), Head of ICT, Head of Internal Affairs, Head of Public\nRelations, and Head of Forensics, as well as the Police Chiefs from the\nSouth Sumatra Police\u2019s jurisdictions. Inspector General Sandi affirmed\nthat the presence of illegal firearms in society is a real threat to the\nsecurity and safety of citizens. According to him, illegal firearms have\nthe potential to trigger disturbances to public order and security,\ncriminal acts, and social conflicts that can endanger the community.\n\u2018Behind every illegal firearm circulating in society, there is a\nconsiderable potential for disturbances to public security and safety,\u2019\nsaid Inspector General Sandi. On that occasion, Inspector General\nSandi conveyed that in 2025, the South Sumatra Police successfully\nuncovered 41 cases and secured 302 homemade firearms of various types.\nThis achievement deserves appreciation, but at the same time serves as a\nreminder that the circulation of illegal firearms remains a serious\nissue that must be continuously anticipated. \u2018To overcome this threat, a\nmaturely, systematically, and sustainably prepared operation is needed\nas proof that the state is present in the community,\u2019 said the Police\nChief. According to him, the Musi 2026 Firearms Operation is a\nmanifestation of the police\u2019s presence in maintaining security,\nenforcing the law, and protecting the public from the threat of illegal\nfirearms.
