The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) has demonstrated a
real commitment to restoring the rights of crime victims. Polda Sumsel
handed over hundreds of motor vehicle evidence items resulting from
criminal acts.

The handover of the stolen vehicle evidence was led by South Sumatra
Police Chief Irjen Sandi Nugroho at the Polda Sumsel headquarters on
Wednesday (8/4/2026). Irjen Sandi emphasised that the success in
uncovering these cases would be incomplete without the process of
returning property rights to the victims.

Irjen Sandi hopes that the return of this evidence will serve as a
balm for the wounds of the community. This also aligns with the
principles of restorative justice, which prioritises the restoration of
conditions.

“Hopefully, the uncovering and return of these vehicles can provide a
little balm for the wounds of the community who once lost their motor
vehicles, so that the sorrow of the residents can be somewhat healed,”
said Irjen Sandi.

A total of 497 motor vehicles were returned to their rightful owners.
Among them were 10 four-wheeled vehicles and 487 two-wheeled
vehicles.

These hundreds of vehicles are part of the 1,715 pieces of evidence
secured by Polda Sumsel units from a total of 3,430 stolen vehicle case
revelations throughout the period from 2024 to March 2026.

Irjen Sandi affirmed that his ranks would continue to uncover stolen
vehicle cases in their area. He guaranteed that Polda Sumsel would
provide the best service to the community.

“We realise that not all cases can be uncovered by us. But rest
assured that we will continue to do our best together with all the main
officials and district police chiefs under our command, to provide the
best service to the people of Bumi Sriwijaya,” he stressed.

Polda Sumsel also hopes to continue building public trust while
motivating all police ranks in the South Sumatra region to work
precisely, professionally, and responsively in protecting the
community.
",
