        "content": "<p>The South Sumatra Regional Police, together with its ranks, have\nbuilt 81 Merah Putih bridges in various parts of South Sumatra Province\nto shorten travel distances and support community activities ahead of\nthe 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n<p>South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho in\nPalembang on Thursday said the programme was part of the Inauguration of\nthe National Police\u2019s Merah Putih Bridges, which was carried out\ncentrally via video conference with the President of the Republic of\nIndonesia and the National Police Chief on Thursday (13\/8).<\/p>\n<p>He explained that in South Sumatra, one of the crossing facilities\ninaugurated is located in Lalang Village, Sembawa District, Banyuasin\nRegency. The bridge, measuring 14 metres in length and 1.5 metres in\nwidth, provides direct benefits to around 900 local residents.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that infrastructure development that touches the basic\nneeds of the community is a manifestation of the National Police\u2019s\npresence whose benefits can be felt directly. According to him, the\nspirit of independence is realised through concrete steps that can\nimprove the quality of life of the community, not merely ceremonial\nactivities.<\/p>\n<p>Based on recapitulation data from the South Sumatra Police and the\nranks of the Resort Police\/Municipal Police, this programme covers 81\nbridges, consisting of 74 units that have been completed and 7 other\nunits still in the construction process.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police,\nSenior Commissioner Nandang Mu\u2019min Wijaya, said that the construction of\nthe Merah Putih bridges is focused on answering the real needs of\ncommunities that have long faced accessibility limitations.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the physical construction aims to facilitate\neconomic, educational and social activities, while opening up\ninter-regional connectivity.
