Banjarmasin (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Provincial Government is\nfacilitating the construction of the Lambung Mangkurat Military Regional\nCommand (Kodam) headquarters in the provincial office area of Banjarbaru\nto strengthen defence and security in the \u2018Bumi Antasari\u2019 region.<\/p>\n
South Kalimantan Governor H. Muhidin, in Banjarbaru on Wednesday,\nstated that this construction serves as a new historic milestone for the\nregion, while also symbolising the strengthening of the state\u2019s presence\nin the context of improving the defence system in the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo far, South Kalimantan has still been under the control of a\nmilitary region centred outside the province. With the presence of the\nKodam, the effectiveness of territorial control and cross-sectoral\ncoordination will increase significantly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He mentioned that his side is providing full support for the\nconstruction, both in terms of policy, facilities, and cross-sectoral\nsynergy.<\/p>\n
He is confident that this development will have broad impacts, not\nonly on defence but also on the social and economic aspects of the\ncommunity.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe presence of the Kodam will shorten the span of control, increase\ncoordination effectiveness, and accelerate responses to various\nsituations in the region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, Indonesia\u2019s defence strength does not only rely on\nweaponry systems but also on the people\u2019s strength, so the fighting\nspirit of the community, including in South Kalimantan, is an important\nfactor that makes Indonesia respected.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe in the TNI-Polri are only continuing the people\u2019s struggle spirit\nthat has been passed down by our predecessors. With the presence of this\nKodam, it is hoped that synergy with the local government will be even\nstronger in supporting development,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Collaborative Funding<\/p>\n
Head of the South Kalimantan Public Works and Public Housing\nDepartment, M. Yasin Toyib, explained that the construction of the\nLambung Mangkurat Kodam requires a budget of around Rp280 billion.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf the total budget, around Rp140 billion comes from the Ministry of\nDefence, while the remainder is a joint contribution from the Provincial\nGovernment and regencies\/cities,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n
He added that the Kodam complex will be built on a 10-hectare plot of\nland with a main five-storey building equipped with facilities according\nto the master plan.<\/p>\n
